Ruckus Wireless Appoints New Celebrity "Spokesperson"

01. April 2013 America/Los_Angeles

SUNNYVALE, CA — 01. April 2013 — Ruckus Wireless, Inc. (NYSE: RKUS) announced today that it has come to a contractual agreement with comedian and writer Robert Smigel, who will immediately assume the responsibilities of the company’s celebrity “spokesperson”. Smigel will replace former Ruckus spokesperson Calvin Broadus, Jr., whose contract was terminated in Januar 2013.

Smigel, who will represent Ruckus exclusively as his creation Triumph the Insult Dog, has an impressive track record of significantly raising brand profiles and creating viral buzz. Smigel first came to prominence when he was hired as a writer for the long-running late-night staple Saturday Night Live in 1985, creating the mainstay segments Ambiguously Gay Duo and Saturday TV Funhouse. His most famous character, Triumph, made his debut on Late Night with Conan O’Brien in Februar 1997.

Now, Triumph the Insult Dog will exclusively represent Ruckus Wireless in a series of videos, promotions, and live appearances designed to further build awareness for one of the wireless industry’s most recognized and respected brands.

“I’m incredibly excited to be partnering with such a dynamic and innovative company in Ruckus,” said Smigel. “After all of my successes in late night television, I’m looking forward to embarking on this new adventure, taking this incredible brand to its next level.”

“This is a great achievement for Ruckus,” stated Selina Lo, CEO of Ruckus Wireless. “Partnering with such a well known personality is a very important step in our rapid growth as a company. We are honored to have Robert, and Triumph, as part of the Ruckus family.”

Terms of the agreement state that Triumph the Insult Dog will participate in a number of company events and functions, including the BiG DOGs Partner Conferences worldwide, major tradeshows, Ruckus shareholder and board of directors meetings, analyst briefings and significant press events.

“I can’t tell you how happy I am with this. I mean look at my tail going!” stated an excited Triumph. “I use Wi-Fi all the time to do my stuff that I do online. It’s great with Ruckus. And lots of other companies make Wi-Fi stuff too…for me to poop on!”

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Smigel, as Triumph the Insult Dog, immediately replaces the former Ruckus celebrity representative Calvin Broadus, Jr. In Januar 2013, the agreement between Ruckus and Mr. Broadus was prematurely terminated when, after returning from Jamaica, Mr. Broadus changed his pseudonym from “Snoop Dogg” to “Snoop Lion” in violation of the original contract.

“I’m the reincarnation of Bob Marley,” a seemingly confused Mr. Broadus proclaimed. “I still want to do that Wi-Fi shizz and all but I…wait, what? Fo’Shizzle.”
