Dr. Volkan Otugen is the Senior Associate Dean of the Lyle School of Engineering at SMU. He is also the director of SMU’s Datacenter Systems Engineering MS Program. Prior to becoming the Senior Associate Dean, he was the chair of the Mechanical Engineering Department at SMU. He has a BS degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering and MS and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical Engineering. He is the author or coauthor of over 140 articles and holds four US patents. He has received the SAE Ralph Teetor Award for Excellence in Education in 1993 and is a Fulbright Fellow (1998). He is a fellow of ASME and an associate fellow of AIAA.
