Service provider is migrating from the ARRIS C4 CMTS to the ARRIS E6000 CER, advancing capabilities of its existing HFC network

SUWANEE, Ga., July 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Comporium, a provider of voice, video, data, wireless and security solutions to parts of North and South Carolina, has begun migrating its ARRIS (Nasdaq:ARRS)-based network to the ARRIS E6000 Converged Edge Router (CER). Built originally on ARRIS's C4 cable modem termination systems (CMTS), the Comporium Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) network will enable delivery of higher bandwidths and faster speeds as the transition to the E6000 CER Converged Cable Access Platform (CCAP) progresses.

With the E6000 CER, Comporium can satisfy the growing subscriber demand for more advanced services delivered to more connected devices. At the same time, the E6000 CER provides Comporium an unprecedented 1,000+ downstream channel capacity per chassis, significantly decreasing the cost per channel.

While the E6000 CER is the latest generation of network solutions from ARRIS, it brings with it a maturity and stability based on many years of ARRIS C4 CMTS deployment experience. Already today, the E6000 CER provides services to millions of subscribers around the world.

"Our customers expect advanced services and reliability," said Mike Deller, Vice President of Engineering and Planning, Comporium. "Over the years, we've found that ARRIS technology is architected to deliver compelling new services and reliability with a lower total cost of ownership."

"Comporium has always been forward-thinking about technology and how it can benefit their subscribers," said Bruce McClelland, President of Network & Cloud and Global Services, ARRIS. "With Comporium's investment in the ARRIS E6000 CER we're continuing a successful partnership that ARRIS takes great pride in.  We're looking forward to playing a part in Comporium's ongoing success."

The E6000 CER provides a high-availability, high-performance solution with unmatched scalability. It supports a fully redundant design with no single point of failure. All elements of the E6000 CER are redundant, either N+1 or 1+1, and all are carrier class, hot-swappable. Software fixes can be applied without impacting service to subscribers.
