Why is March 2013 so important? Well, several historic events took place. Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina was elected as the new pope. Two new species of lizards were discovered in the Andes Mountains in Peru.
For CommScope, the date is significant because we acquired iTRACS Corporation, a global leader in open, enterprise-class data center infrastructure management. The acquisition strengthened CommScope’s position in data centers and enabled us to provide one of the industry’s most comprehensive, automated and open infrastructure management platforms.
We are proud to say that just last week Gartner released its “Critical Capabilities for Data Center Infrastructure Management Tools” report and CommScope: iTRACS DCIM received the highest product scores in all three use case categories, Colocation Provider, Large Enterprise and Midsize Enterprise.
The report from Gartner evaluates data center infrastructure management (DCIM) companies based on use cases for colocation providers, large enterprises and midsize enterprise. In the use cases, Gartner evaluated specific capabilities including:
- Power monitoring
- Environment monitoring
- Reporting/visualization
- Resource management
- Workflow integration management
- Multitenancy
DCIM tools can give a holistic view of the data center infrastructure and as Gartner states, “DCIM tools can provide valuable cost savings and utilization benefits to colocation providers, and large and midsize enterprises.
